DfE confirms new apprenticeship funding

The Department for Education (DfE) has confirmed how the new funding model for apprenticeships will operate in England when it takes effect in May 2017. In particular employers with a total annual wage bill of less than £3 million will be exempt from paying the apprenticeship levy. Employers with fewer than 50 employees will not have to pay anything towards the cost of training a 16- to 18-year-old apprentice and will also receive a £1,000 grant from the DfE.
